Invisible Barriers
Project Overview
Invisible Barriers is the final series in my self-directed project, A Visual Journey to Reconnect with Nature. In this work, I explore how visual storytelling can highlight our changing relationship with the natural world.
I used red cellophane suspended in natural settings to represent the growing divide between humans and nature. The transparent red cellophane aims to act as a visual metaphor for the barriers we’ve built between ourselves and the environment. The crumpled and flat forms of the cellophane capture the ebb and flow of connection and disconnection, moments of overwhelm and distance, as well as clarity and reconnection.
This series encourages reflection on how our actions affect the environment and invites conversation about how we can reconnect with nature.
Creative Process & Reflection
This series provided an opportunity for me to develop my conceptual thinking and explore new ways to visually communicate a complex and at times polarising issue. My intention was to approach the subject with empathy, fostering an open dialogue where different interpretations could be shared. While the series invites varied perspectives, my goal was to create space for conversation and gain a deeper understanding of how others relate to this issue.
